Bonner Congress Representatives from around the country will gather at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee with a mission to develop their Big Ideas, strategize about issues in their region, and learn from each other and national partner organizations.

Now in its fifth year, the Big Idea project prompts student representatives to come to the meeting with a range of ideas for improving and enhancing the Bonner Program and service more broadly in their campus communities.

The Bonner Advisory Board (BAB) will help lead Bonner Congress as student facilitators and organizers throughout the meeting. Founded in 2009, BAB carries the mission of planning and facilitating national meetings, organizing with schools in their region, and contributing to national initiatives such as the Monthly Student Newsletter and Bonner Blog.

We want to thank Rhodes College staff for hosting and we cannot wait for Bonner Congress 2013!

If you have any ideas for Bonner Congress 2013, please e-mail josh@bonner.org.

HOUSING

Like all Bonner Congress meetings, participants will be housed with the host students (in this case, Rhodes students) in dormitories and apartments both on- and off-campus. This is a free option and is automatically arranged when you register for the conference. Just be sure to bring a sleeping bag and pillow!

WHAT TO BRING

* Comfortable clothing and shoes. Casual is fine.

* Since Congress Reps will be housed with students, make sure to bring a sleeping bag or blanket and pillow.

* Toiletries. You'll be showing in dorm bathrooms.

* Energy and ideas!

* A piece of Bonner Swag!  We will be having a swag exchange at some point during the weekend.

Big Idea projects are one or two year projects for schools to accomplish using a mix of school, local, and national resources. Big Ideas are completely by individual schools to complete their specific needs, whether that means finding more partners or growing a community garden. Your Big Idea might be to host a school wide day of service or to improve a program policy.

The proposal submission deadline is Friday, October 4th!

For this year, each school team is required to submit a 500 word proposal detailing their Big Idea. Before submitting your Big Idea, each school teamMUST meet with a Bonner staff member to approve the proposal. Once your proposal is approved, you may submit your Big Idea Proposal by completing a Big Idea Proposal Form

Need assistance completing your Big Idea Proposal? Josh Blair, Program Associate, will host two interactive webinars where you can ask questions and hear feedback:

Thursday, September 26 at 12:00 pm

Wednesday, October 2 at 5:00 pm

If you are interested in attending either webinar, please e-mail josh@bonner.org with which webinar you want to attend and he will send you more information.
