Below is a list of journals and publication venues in which faculty and other scholars may want to pursue publishing their research, scholarship and public scholarship, especially as it relates to engaged learning.   Click on the link to find more information.

Action Research Journal
Action Research is an international, interdisciplinary, peer reviewed, quarterly published refereed journal which is a forum for the development of the theory and practice of action research. The journal publishes quality articles on accounts of action research projects, explorations in the philosophy and methodology of action research, and considerations of the nature of quality in action research practice. This journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

 

Advances in Service-Learning Research (Book series)

This book series will gather current research on service-learning in K-12 education, teacher education, and higher education. Along with chapters highlighting the findings of service-learning research studies, the book will include thought pieces that identify theoretical groundings of service-learning and present methodological approaches for studying service-learning (including teacher action research).

 

American Educational Research Journal
The American Educational Research Journal publishes original empirical and theoretical studies and analyses in education that constitute significant contributions to the understanding and/or improvement of educational processes and outcomes.

 

American Journal of Community Psychology - The American Journal of Community Psychology publishes original quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research; theoretical papers; empirical reviews; reports of innovative community programs or policies; and first person accounts of stakeholders involved in research, programs, or policy. The journal encourages submissions of innovative multi-level research and interventions, and encourages international submissions. The journal also encourages the submission of manuscripts concerned with underrepresented populations and issues of human diversity.

 

American Educator
American Educator is a quarterly journal of educational research and ideas published by the American Federation of Teachers. Recent articles have focused on such topics as reducing the achievement gap between poor and affluent students, heading off student discipline problems, teaching an appreciation and understanding of democracy, the benefits of a common coherent curriculum, and other issues affecting children and education here and abroad. Total circulation, as of our most recent issue, is over 900,000.

 

Around the CIRCLE (Online)
Published by The Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE), this free online resource contains many updates and articles of research relating to youth and civic engagement.

 

Community Works Journal
Published by the Community Works Institute since 1995, supports teaching practices that build community. The Journal features essays and reflections along with curriculum overviews that highlight the importance of place, service, and sustainability to a relevant and meaningful education. This journal is published online (free) and in print three times a year in support of teaching practices that build community. It showcases innovative educational strategies, practices, and curriculum that involve teachers and students in meaningful work within their communities.

 

Compact Current
From Campus Compact, a free quarterly newsletter for higher education organizations and institutions involved in public and community service.

 

Curriculum Inquiry

Curriculum Inquiry is a journal dedicated to the study of educational research, development, evaluation, and theory. This leading international journal brings together influential academics and researchers from a variety of disciplines around the world to provide expert commentary and lively debate. Articles explore important ideas, issues, trends, and problems in education, and each issue also includes provocative and critically analytical editorials covering topics such as curriculum development, educational policy, and teacher education.

 

Education and Urban Society

Education and Urban Society (EUS) is the preeminent journal for communicating new ideas on educational processes, controversies, research, and policy. It places special emphasis on the relationship between educators and society. It is an important outlet for the wide variety of disciplines studying today's educational systems and provides a multidisciplinary forum for communication among educators, educational administrators, school board, sociologists, anthropologists, and political scientists.

 

Education, Citizenship and Social Justice

Education, Citizenship and Social Justice provides a strategic forum for international and multidisciplinary dialogue for all academic educators and educational policy-makers concerned with the meanings and form of citizenship and social justice as these are realised throughout the time spent in educational institutions.

 

eJournal of Public Affairs
The eJournal of Public Affairs is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary, open-access journal published by Missouri State University and affiliated with the American Democracy Project. By providing an academic, nationally refereed venue for such work, the eJournal aims to advance the status of public scholarship. The journal is focused on scholarship related to engagement in the public arena.

 

Gateways: International Journal of Community Research and Engagement

Gateways is a refereed journal concerned with the practice and processes of university-community engagement. It provides a forum for academics, practitioners and community representatives to explore issues and reflect on practices relating to the full range of engaged activity. The journal publishes evaluative case studies of community engagement initiatives; analyses of the policy environment; and theoretical reflections that contribute to the scholarship of engagement.

 

Harvard Educational Review

Harvard Educational Review is a scholarly journal of opinion and research in education. Its mission is to provide an interdisciplinary forum for discussion and debate about education's most vital issues. Since its founding in 1930, the Review has become one of the most prestigious journals in education, with a paid circulation of over 10,000 policymakers, researchers, administrators, and teachers. Each year, the Review covers a wide range of topics of current concern in education. Each quarterly issue of the Review is book length, containing a variety of articles, essays, and book reviews.

 

Information for Action: A Journal for Research on Service-Learning for Children and Youth  The Journal is a peer-reviewed publication that features 1) rigorous, academic research that expands knowledge of theories and principles of service-learning and related youth fields, 2) applied research performed primarily by teachers and practitioners, and 3) articles written by youth involved in research/evaluation activities.

 

International Journal of Citizenship and Teacher Education (Online)

Published by citizED, and edited by Dr. Ian Davis, this e-journal is published twice in 2005 and in 2006 (July and December). During this period, with the exception of the very first issue, publication of the journal will be in the form of an E-journal, that is, in online (web browser accessible) format only.

 

International Journal of Educational Development

The purpose of the International Journal of Educational Development is to foster critical debate about the role that education plays in development. IJED seeks both to develop new theoretical insights.

 

The International Journal of Multicultural Education

The International Journal of Multicultural Education (IJME) is an open-access e-journal committed to promoting educational equity, cross-cultural understanding, and global awareness in all levels of education. IJME publishes a variety of writings: (1) reports of empirical research, typically in qualitative research orientation; (2) literature-based articles advancing theories and scholarship of multicultural education; (3) praxis articles discussing successful multicultural education programs or practical instructional ideas and strategies; and (4) reviews of visual arts, professional and children's books, and multimedia resources.

 

International Journal for Service Learning in Engineering

The International Journal for Service Learning in Engineering (IJSLE) is a new faculty-reviewed electronic journal offered free, semi-annually, over the World Wide Web. The Journal welcomes manuscripts based on original work of students and researchers with a specific focus or implication for service learning in engineering, engineering entrepreneurship in service, or related topics.

 

International Undergraduate Journal for Service-Learning, Leadership and Social Change 
Features articles from undergraduate students that discuss the development of a service-learning project and the impact of the project on the community served, a case study of a service-learning project or a reflection on service-learning and the development of personal leadership.

 

Journal for Civic Commitment

Published by the Community College National Center of Community Engagement (CCNCCE), The Journal for Civic Commitment is a twice-yearly online journal dedicated to growing and strengthening the discussion around service learning.

 

Journal for Community Engagement and Scholarship

The Journal of Community Engagement and Scholarship (JCES) is a peer-reviewed international journal through which faculty, staff, students, and community partners disseminate scholarly works. JCES integrates teaching, research, and community engagement in all disciplines, addressing critical problems identified through a community-participatory process.

 

Journal of College and Character
A professional, peer reviewed publication, focuses on character development in college, and how colleges and universities influence, both intentionally and unintentionally, the moral and civic learning and behavior of their students. The journal includes resources and information designed to encourage discussion, research, and innovative educational practices, publishing scholarly articles and applied research on issues related to ethics, values, and character development in higher education.

 

Journal of Community Practice: Organizing, Planning, Development & Change
An interdisciplinary journal designed to provide a forum for community practice, including community organizing, planning, social administration, organizational development, community development and social change. The journal contributes to the development of knowledge related to numerous disciplines, including social work and the social sciences, urban planning, social and economic development, community organizing, policy analysis, urban and rural sociology, public administration, and nonprofit management.

 

Journal of Cooperative Education and Internships

The Journal of Cooperative Education & Internships is dedicated to the advancement of work-integrated learning, to a strong focus on research associated with work-integrated learning, and the development of a global view of work-integrated learning through the publication of thoughtful and timely articles.

 

Journal of Experiential Education (JEE)

Published by the Association for Experiential Education (AAE), the Journal of Experiential Education (JEE) is published three times a year in subject areas such outdoor adventure programming, service-learning, environmental education, therapeutic applications, research and theory, the creative arts, and much more. A continuing dialogue about service and outreach mission of the university and its relationship to teaching and research missions and to the needs of the sponsoring society.  A peer-reviewed, scholarly journal presenting a diverse range of articles in subject areas such as outdoor adventure programming, service learning, environmental education, therapeutic applications, research and theory, the creative arts, and much more. 

 

Journal of Extension

The Journal of Extension creates opportunities for professionals and students to publish intellectual, creative work; nurtures emerging scholars and new authors for success; encourages professional development; and advances the theory and practice of the Cooperative Extension System. JOE is a rigorous, peer-reviewed journal that brings the scholarship of university outreach and engagement to educators and practitioners around the world. Feature, Research in Brief, and Ideas at Work submissions undergo double-blind review, and Commentary and Tools of the Trade submissions are reviewed by the editor, Dr. Laura Hoelscher.

 

Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement
A peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal to advance theory and practice related to all forms of outreach and engagement between higher education institutions and communities.

 

Journal of Moral Education

The Journal of Moral Education provides a unique interdisciplinary forum for the discussion and analysis of moral education and development throughout the lifespan. The journal encourages submissions across the human sciences and humanities that use a range of methodological approaches and address aspects of moral reasoning, moral emotions, motivation and moral action in various contexts (e.g., cultural, gender, family, schooling, community, leisure, work) and roles (e.g., parent, teacher, student, civic, professional). The journal encourages proposals for special issues that address a topic relevant to these aims and scope.

 

Journal of Public Scholarship in Higher Education
Aims to advance the status and prospects for publicly engaged teaching and research in the academy by showcasing the new disciplinary and/or pedagogical knowledge generated by engagement with the community. JPSHE provides a venue for higher education faculty and administrative leadership to reflect on the ways that community engagement affects work in higher education – and its outcomes for broad issues such as classroom teaching, the advancement of research and knowledge creation across the disciplines, faculty development, tenure and promotion processes, the preparation of graduate students, etc.

 

Journal of Service-Learning and Youth Leadership (The Generator)

A National Youth Leadership Association publication for practitioners from all service-learning sectors. Issues focus on a specific theme, and include articles from the field, program examples, research, resources, and news.

 

Journal of Service-Learning in Higher Education
An online, international, peer-reviewed journal for the dissemination of original research regarding effective institutional-community partnerships.  Seeks to provide an outlet for sharing the methodologies and pedagogical approaches that lead to effective community-identified outcomes.

 

The Journal of Social Change
Sponsored by Walden University, this journal focuses on interdisciplinary research in social change that improves the human condition and moves people, groups, organizations, cultures, and society toward a more positive future.

 

Journal for Community Engagement and Higher Education

The Journal of Community Engagement and Higher Education is an online, refereed journal concerned with exploring community engagement and community-based learning perspective, research, and practice. The journal aims to establish and maintain a review of the literature of research and practice. The Journal of Community Engagement and Higher Education is edited and published by the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) at Indiana State University (ISU).

 

Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning
Features research, theory, pedagogy, and other matters related to academic service-learning, campus-community partnerships, and engaged/public scholarship in higher education that extend the knowledge base and support and strengthen practitioners' work.

 

National Civic Review

The National Civic Review is a quarterly publication of the National Civic League, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes civic engagement, community building, political reform and democratic governance. The journal's mission is to inform, inspire and stimulate discussion on ways of strengthening democratic institutions and making them more inclusive, accountable and responsive to citizens. Although the focus is primarily local and regional, we do publish selective articles on civic renewal/reform efforts at the state and federal levels.

 

NHSA Dialogue (National Head Start Association)

The mission of NHSA Dialog: A Research-to-Practice Journal for the Early Childhood Field is to: (a) develop and sustain a quality publication that provides a forum for two-way communication between researchers and practitioners, (b) ensure that research results are effectively translated for practice and policy, and (c) provide ongoing reporting of the results to the broader community in order to obtain continuing feedback.

 

NSEE Quarterly

Quarterly publication of the National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE), an association of educators, businesses, and community leaders.

 

Partnerships: A Journal of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement

Partnerships recognizes that successful engaged learning depends on effective partnerships between students, faculty, community agencies, administrators, disciplines, and more. The articles in this peer-reviewed journal focus on how theories and practices can inform and improve such partnerships, connections, and collaborations. Studies co-authored by faculty, students, and/or community partners; or examining practices across disciplines or campuses; or exploring international networks are all encouraged.  This peer-reviewed, online journal of North Carolina Campus Compact is hosted by the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and managed by distinguished faculty throughout United States higher education. 

 

PEN Weekly NewsBlast

The Public Education Network advocates for significant changes in how school systems are funded, overhauling curriculum and assessment practices, and providing ongoing professional development for teachers. Every week, the PEN Weekly NewsBlast offers annotated links to articles about education, free updates on education news, and grant alerts.

 

Phi Delta Kappan

An advocate for research-based school reform, the Kappan provides a forum for debate on controversial subjects. Published since 1915, the journal comes out monthly, September-June, as a print publication. Selected articles from each issue are available online.

 

Planning and Changing: An Educational Research and Policy Journal

Planning and Changing provides a forum for the presentation of issues and studies that inform current educational policy and practice. As such, the journal serves as a critical, intellectual resource for educational leaders, practitioners, and policy makers. Peer-reviewed articles include formal research studies using quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies, as well as reflective, theoretical pieces focused on significant aspects of education and schooling relevant to the administrator, community, or the larger public good.

 

PRISM: A Journal of Regional Engagement

PRISM: A Journal of Regional Engagement is an exciting new journal devoted to promoting a culture of engagement between the university and region through the creation, application, and integration of knowledge. PRISM is multi-disciplinary, publishing quality, peer-reviewed research articles, case studies and applied research articles, and reflections across the full range of disciplinary perspectives. Similarly, PRISM welcomes all forms of analysis and methodologies.

 

Service-Learning Advances

A monthly newsletter from the National Service-Learning Partnership (NSLP), it offers comprehensive and timely information about developments in the K-12 service-learning field. You must become a member of the NSLP to receive the newsletter. Membership is free.

 

Undergraduate Journal of Service-Learning and Community-Based Research
A refereed, multi-disciplinary, online  journal dedicated to publishing the intellectual and reflective work by undergraduates on service learning, community-based research, and all related curriculum- and/or research-based public community engagement activities.

 

Urban Education

From Sage Publications. A bi-monthly journal that focuses on key issues from gender-balanced and racially diverse perspectives. Subjects include: student motivation and teacher practice; school-to-work programs and community economic development; restructuring in large urban schools; health and social services.

 

Youth Impact (formerly The Tutor)

Online publication on topics of interest to national service projects published by Education Northwest.

 

Educational Research - Higher Education

 

Academic Exchange Quarterly

This is an independent, peer-reviewed print and electronic journal that publishes 55-65 original refereed articles per issue, submitted by international authors representing multiple academic areas.

 

Change: The Magazine of Higher Learning

Change is a magazine dealing with contemporary issues in higher learning. It is intended to stimulate and inform reflective practitioners in colleges, universities, corporations, government, and elsewhere. Using a magazine format rather than that of an academic journal, Change spotlights trends, provides new insights and ideas, and analyzes the implications of educational programs, policies, and practices.

 

College Teaching

College Teaching publishes peer-reviewed articles on how instructors across all academic disciplines can improve student learning. Each issue includes practical ideas and new strategies for successful teaching. Topics may range from research on teaching methods, educational technologies, classroom management, and assessment and grading, to faculty development, course design, and interdisciplinary teaching. As a source of the best and latest scholarship on teaching and learning, College Teaching offers ideas that can be implemented in the next class meeting as well as inspiration that can promote effective teaching semester after semester.

 

Community College Journal

The Community College Journal features articles by leading experts, opinions that put the news in perspective, coverage of higher education issues, and profiles of the field's leaders. The digital Community College Journal is an enhancement of the print edition. Read the magazine from where you are, share content with your board and staff.

 

Community College Journal of Research and Practice

The only two-year college journal that is international in scope and purpose, Community College Journal of Research and Practice is published twelve times per year. The journal is a multidisciplinary forum for researchers and practitioners in higher education and the behavioral and social sciences. It promotes an increased awareness of community college issues by providing an exchange of ideas, research, and empirically tested educational innovations.

 

Education Digest

The Education Digest serves school leaders wanting to find new ways to improve instruction, increase student learning, support teachers, and assist parents. The unique purpose of the Digest is met by identifying practical ideas and presenting them in a revised way that is less lengthy, easy to read, and readily applied.

 

Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis

Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis publishes scholarly articles of theoretical, methodological, or policy interest to those engaged in educational policy analysis, evaluation, and decision making. It is a multidisciplinary policy journal and considers original research from multiple disciplines, theoretical orientations, and methodologies.

 

Educational Leadership

Educational Leadership is ASCD's flagship publication. With a circulation of 160,000, EL is acknowledged throughout the world as an authoritative source of information about teaching and learning, new ideas and practices relevant to practicing educators, and the latest trends and issues affecting pre-kindergarten through higher education. EL is published eight times each year, September through May, with a combined December/January issue.

 

Innovative Higher Education

Innovative Higher Education is a publication of the Institute of Higher Education that has been published since 1975. It is a refereed scholarly journal with a distinguished and internationally known editorial review board. Among its editorial goals is to present descriptions and evaluations of innovations and provocative new ideas with relevance for action beyond the immediate context in higher education.

 

Instructor

Scholastic's Instructor magazine is the classroom teacher's go-to guide for practical and innovative teaching ideas, education news, professional development advice, and teacher-tested lesson plans, classroom management strategies, time saving tools, and much more. 

 

Journal of College Student Development

The Journal of College Student Development (JCSD) is interested in feature manuscripts concerning student development, professional development, professional issues, administrative concerns, and creative programs to improve student services. Authors may focus on recent original research, replication of research, reviews of research, graduate education in student affairs, or essays on theoretical, organizational, and professional issues. Both quantitative and qualitative research manuscripts are considered.

 

Journal on Excellence in College Teaching

This is a peer-reviewed journal published at Miami University by and for faculty at universities and two- and four-year colleges to increase student learning through effective teaching, interest in and enthusiasm for the profession of teaching, and communication among faculty about their classroom experiences. Available online.

 

Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement (JHEOE)

Published by the Institute of Higher Education and the University of Georgia, and formerly known as the Journal of Public Service and Outreach, the Journal for Higher Education Outreach and Engagement (JHEOE) is published three times a year. The mission of the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement (JHEOE) is to serve as the premier peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal to advance theory and practice related to all forms of outreach and engagement between higher education institutions and communities. This includes highlighting innovative endeavors; critically examining emerging issues, trends, challenges, and opportunities; and reporting on studies of impact in the areas of public service, outreach, engagement, extension, engaged research, community-based research, community-based participatory research, action research, public scholarship, service-learning, and community service.

 

Journal of Public Scholarship in Higher Education

The Journal of Public Scholarship in Higher Education features public scholarship—that is, academic inquiry that forms community partnerships to address shared problems, issues, and opportunities. This kind of scholarship—what many think of as Boyer's "scholarship of engagement"—involves the community in reciprocal relationships with the university; however, it also serves to discover and disseminate new disciplinary knowledge and/or pedagogical practice.

 

Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

The Journal of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning encourages all instructors to engage in the discussion of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), and to become involved in the sharing of knowledge and learning about the teaching-learning process. The Journal provides a publication outlet for research in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and an online forum for engagement with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

 

Liberal Education

Liberal Education, the flagship journal of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, expresses the voices of educators, faculty, administrators, and others who are working to enrich liberal learning and undergraduate education. The national forum about liberal education, the journal covers a full range of topics related to teaching and learning, leadership, faculty innovation, and institutional change. Both theoretical and practical articles can be found in the various sections of each issue, providing the latest research and the best thinking about liberal learning and featuring best practices at public and private colleges, community colleges, and universities of every type and size.

 

Metropolitan Universities Journal

Metropolitan Universities Journal is a quarterly publication intent on helping your institution stay abreast of cutting-edge topics in higher education. Published by Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) on behalf of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities, each themed issue reports in-depth on theoretical and applied aspects affecting colleges and universities. Articles are contributed by top scholars and administrators who bring diverse institutional perspectives to their ideas.

 

Progress in Community Health Partnerships: Research, Education, and Action

Announced by The Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute with the WK Kellogg Foundation, this journal focuses on the growing field of community-based participatory research (CBPR) while promoting further collaboration and elevating the visibility and stature of CBPR as a means toward eliminating health disparities.

 

Reflections: A Journal of Writing, Service-Learning, and Community Literacy

Reflections, a peer reviewed journal, provides a forum for scholarship on writing, service-learning and community literacy. Originally founded as a venue for teachers, researchers, students and community partners to share research and discuss the theoretical, political and ethical implications of community-based writing and writing instruction, Reflections publishes a lively collection of essays, empirical studies, interviews and reviews in a format that brings together emerging scholars and leaders in the fields of community-based writing and civic engagement.

 

Review of Higher Education

The Review of Higher Education provides a forum for discussion of varied issues affecting higher education. The journal advances the study of college- and university-related topics through peer-reviewed articles, essays, reviews and research findings, and by emphasizing systematic inquiry--both quantitative and qualitative--and practical implications. Considered one of the leading research journals in the field, The Review keeps scholars, academic leaders, and public policymakers abreast of critical issues facing higher education today.The Review of Higher Education is the official journal of the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE).

 

Theory and Research in Social Education

Theory and Research in Social Education is designed to stimulate and communicate systematic research and thinking in social education. Its purpose is to foster the creation and exchange of ideas and research findings that will expand knowledge and understanding of the purposes, conditions, and effects of schooling and education about society and social relations. Manuscripts reporting conceptual or empirical studies of social education are welcomed.

 

To Improve the Academy

To Improve the Academy is an annual publication of The Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD). POD fosters human development in higher education through faculty, instructional, and organizational development.

 

Transformations: The Journal of Inclusive Scholarship and Pedagogy

Transformations: The Journal of Inclusive Scholarship and Pedagogy is a peer-reviewed journal published semi-annually by New Jersey City University. It is an interdisciplinary forum for pedagogical scholarship exploring intersections of identities, power, and social justice. The journal features a range of approaches — from theoretical articles to creative and experimental accounts of pedagogical innovations — by teachers and scholars across all areas of education.

 

Business

 

Business Communication Quarterly

Business Communication Quarterly is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal devoted to the teaching of business communication. It aims to present the many interdisciplinary, international, and organizational perspectives that characterize the field. It is an official journal of the Association for Business Communication (ABC). 

 

Journal of Business Ethics

The Journal of Business Ethics publishes only original articles from a wide variety of methodological and disciplinary perspectives concerning ethical issues related to business that bring something new or unique to the discourse in their field. Since its initiation in 1980, the editors have encouraged the broadest possible scope. The term 'business' is understood in a wide sense to include all systems involved in the exchange of goods and services, while 'ethics' is circumscribed as all human action aimed at securing a good life. Systems of production, consumption, marketing, advertising, social and economic accounting, labor relations, public relations and organizational behavior are analyzed from a moral viewpoint. The style and level of dialogue involve all who are interested in business ethics - the business community, universities, government agencies and consumer groups.

College Composition and Communication

College Composition and Communication (CCC) is the journal of the Conference on College Composition and Communication. CCC publishes research and scholarship in composition studies that support those who teach writing at the college level. The field of composition studies draws on research and theories from a broad range of humanistic disciplines while supporting a number of subfields of its own, such as technical communication, computers and composition, history of composition, writing center work, and others. Articles for CCC may stem from any of these fields, and are relevant to the work of college writing teachers and responsive to recent work in composition studies.

 

College English

College English is the professional journal for the college scholar-teacher. CE publishes articles about literature, rhetoric-composition, critical theory, creative writing theory and pedagogy, linguistics, literacy, reading theory, pedagogy, and professional issues related to the teaching of English. Each issue also includes opinion pieces, review essays, and letters from readers. Contributions may work across traditional field boundaries; authors represent the full range of institutional types.

The International Journal for Service Learning in Engineering (IJSLE) is a new faculty-reviewed electronic journal offered free, semi-annually, over the World Wide Web. The Journal welcomes manuscripts based on original work of students and researchers with a specific focus or implication for service learning in engineering, engineering entrepreneurship in service, or related topics.

 

Progress in Community Health Partnerships: Research, Education, and Action

Progress in Community Health Partnerships (PCHP) is a national, peer-reviewed journal whose mission is to identify and publicize model programs that use community partnerships to improve public health, promote progress in the methods of research and education involving community health partnerships, and stimulate action that will improve the health of people and communities. The first scholarly journal dedicated to Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), PCHP is a must for public health professionals and the libraries that serve them.

International Journal of Citizenship and Teacher Education

Published by citizED, and edited by Dr. Ian Davis, this e-journal is published twice in 2005 and in 2006 (July and December). During this period, with the exception of the very first issue, publication of the journal will be in the form of an E-journal, that is, in online (web browser accessible) format only.

The International Association of Public Participation Journal (IAP2) is a peer-reviewed publication designed to meet the needs of IAP2 members and others having an interest in improving the theory and practice of public participation.

The Journal is a refereed publication of the Department of 4-H Youth Development and Family & Consumer Sciences at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, USA. The IJOVA seeks to provide for an exchange of ideas and sharing of knowledge and insights about volunteerism, and volunteer management and administration, both in North America and internationally.

Partnership Matters

Knowing that it is impossible to keep up with the many conferences, grants, programs and publications that might strengthen community-campus efforts, the goal for Partnership Matters is to provide members with easy access to such information in a succinct, readable format. The newsletter is sent out via email every two weeks.

 

Voluntas: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations

The official journal of the International Society for Third-Sector Research, Voluntas is an interdisciplinary international journal that aims to be the central forum for worldwide research in the area between the state, market, and household sectors. Articles are published in English but abstracts in French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic are included. The journal combines full-length articles with shorter research notes (reflecting the latest developments in the field) and book reviews.

Harvard Family Research Project's periodical addresses current issues facing program evaluators of all levels, with articles written by the most prominent evaluators in the field.

 

International Journal of Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IJRSLCE).

The IJRSLCE is a peer-reviewed online journal dedicated to the publication of high quality research focused on service-learning, campus-community engagement, and the promotion of active and effective citizenship through education.  This is a good venue for research studies and evaluation.
