The Bonner Fellowship Program is an intensive internship program that allows Bonner students across the network the opportunity to work professionally with a number of national partners. In this program, students from Bonner Programs across the country were paired with national partners in Philadelphia, Memphis, Maryville, Albany, New York City and Washington, D.C. This fellowship experience serves the purpose of an internship experience and is meant to prepare students for the professional world. As fellows, these students will represent the Bonner program while also representing his or her individual school and the partner organization. This unique opportunity was open to the network as a whole to apply to. Fellows were then selected after a rigorous interview process with both the national partner organization as well as the Bonner Foundation. Fellows will be expected to attend specific trainings tailored to his or her specific partner organization as well as trainings provided by the foundation.

What does Bonner mean to you?

I could not stress enough how this program and the opportunities provided through it have changed my life. I was able to transcend from poverty and the lack of resources that it creates and gain a whole new world with broad horizons. I have found a passion in work that I never believed I would have. Bonner allows me to work with several different types of non-profit organizations that make me realize that although my current state in life may be difficult, I can still fight for others and make a difference.  What I have found to be slightly discouraging is the long process of getting every member in this effort on the same page with the same knowledge of the survey. There is a lot of leg work in going to several different places and meeting with community members to make them aware of how important they are to the survey statistics.
