Each year, the annual Bonner Fall Directors Meeting will also include an

an opportunity to learn about high-impact learning and community engagement, bringing the lessons learned from this initiative into the broader Bonner Network.

The meeting is generally held at the Kanuga Conference Center in Hendersonville, NC.  Staff representatives from the 60+ campuses that run established Bonner Programs attend this meeting.

At the 2013 Fall Directors Meeting, to be held November 11-13 at Kanuga, we began to share progress on high-impact projects, as well as related themes.

The first year will involve a planning retreat with 1-2 participants from each team. This will occur in the Princeton area near the Foundation's offices. This retreat will serve a vital purpose of providing participants, including campus team leaders, with an opportunity to build trust

and ownership for the initiative.

This meeting will be designed for participants to provide valued input that shapes the first summer's institute, resource development, and approaches. In addition, it will mobilize campus participants

to successfully inspire and organize their colleagues, students, and partners back on campus. We will delve into theories of change and organizing strategies.

The 2014 High Impact Planning Retreat is targeted for March 21-23, 2014 at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA.  We will update this with real dates soon.

The second High Impact Summer Institute will take place July 8-12, 2013 at Siena College in Albany, New York.  This working meeting will provide campus teams with an opportunity to delve into high-impact educational practices and how they can be strategically connected with deep community partnerships and civic engagement.  Teams will walk away with strategic plans and models for implementation on campus.

The Institute will occur each year, with the teams returning while we also add a second and third cohort in 2013 and 2014, so that 30 institutions participate in this initiative by the end of three years.  This process will also create a vibrant national learning community of higher education and partner institutions who are working to move our field into the future.
