This year there are some important changes in our reporting requirements to the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).  Like many funders in the field, in 2010 CNCS moved towards the integration of outcome and performance measures tied to the areas of direct service in which we work.

They established five priority areas for AmeriCorps including:

In establishing these Priority Areas, CNCS also articulated a new set standardized performance measures for all AmeriCorps programs to use.  Rather than developing our own measures as in years past, we must now select performance measures developed by CNCS.  Using standardized measures will allow CNCS to aggregate the results of similar programs and demonstrate the impact of AmeriCorps, and it will also help us do the same.

When we completed our AmeriCorps application for 2010-2011 we targeted service areas in which we serve most prominently and selected several of the standardized performance measures related to education, health and economic opportunity.  More specifically, we need to report on activities related to mentoring, job skill training, and nutrition education for youth.

Since this is the pilot year for the standardized performance measures, CNCS is asking us to submit a mid-year report which is due in early May.

The period of performance for the mid-year report is October 6, 2010 - March 31, 2011.  You only need to report on the activities of Bonner AmeriCorps members enrolled in the 2010-2011 grant year.

To help facilitate the data collection process, your Campus Support liaison will send you an email message which identifies which community partners you should survey at this time.

To help make this data collection easier, we have developed a Survey Monkey (Bonner AmeriCorps Partner Survey) with the questions to be used as an interview with the community partner agency. While you most likely don't know the answers to these questions (about the specific demographics and numbers served by the agency), it is likely that the agency leaders do.  Below is the link to a sample e-mail that you can personalize and send to your community partners to introduce them to this process.  We also suggest sending them a copy of the survey questions (see below for link) ahead of time so they are prepared for your phone call.

You will want to conduct the interview with each of your community partners.  While we would recommend that you be involved in this first round, we have designed this to be something that your Senior Intern could do.

Again, please complete the survey for each community partner listed above; go back to the link to restart the survey with a new partner. If one of the activities listed in the survey does not apply to a particular community partner simply enter Not Applicable or NA.

Additionally, the Campus Administrator should complete the second survey link below (Bonner AmeriCorps Campus Survey).

Please complete the surveys by close of business on April 27, 2011.

If you have any questions, please contact your Campus Support Liaison at the Foundation office at 609-924-6663.
