VISION

In 400 words or less, please describe your Big Idea. What is it and why have you decided to work on it this year? How may it strengthen your program, campus, and/or community?

 

 §Somerset Internship /Bonner Leadership Program will educate and inspire students to become change agents through social development, and civic engagement while building fostering partnerships in non-profit and for profit organization throughout Northern and Central New Jersey. 

 


STRATEGY

In 400 words or less, please describe your strategy. The following questions should draw out the tools, resources, and support you are using to promote and achieve your Big Idea. You'll have a chance to flesh out your plan, but here is a chance to get the basics down: 

§Year 1 – Exploration §1. Community Knowledge ( who are the non-profits? What do they do? How do we engage with the community) §2. Establish and maintain relationship with partners §3. Have two big events with the Bonner program and the (SGA) Student government of SCC §4. Retain the 10 Bonner Leader student involvement through leadership and inspiration §5. Ongoing Recruitment of future Bonner Leaders §6. Create Bonner Promo video by Nov 30, 2011

§Community Knowledge ( who are the non-profits? What do they do? How do we engage with the community §1. The Newark & Somerset Bonner Leader teams will collect data on all non-profit organizations and submit to team leaders Danny & Valerie who will give to Ebony §2. Ebony will Initiate contact and present to Dr. Ao. §3. Dr. Ao will work with the recommended partners

§Establish and maintain relationship with 3 partners – we already have §1. Establish trust by being consistent, dependable, respectful, resourceful in our service to their organization. §2. Open communication through meetings and phone calls with the  coordinator and the presence of the senior intern. §3. Limiting the partners involvement in what we have to do.

§Have two big events with the Bonner program and the (SGA) Student government of SCC §1. Set up time to meet with the director of student life and officers of SGA  at the next available meeting §2. The events will be one in December and one in April

§Retain the 10 Bonner Leader student involvement through leadership and inspiration §1. Maintain week meetings §2. Team Builders- Bowling etc. §3. Cultivating deeper relationship with leaders §4. Practicing Self care

*  Ongoing Recruitment of future Bonner Leaders §1. Visit classrooms to present Bonner Elevator Speech §2. Recruit 20 Bonner leaders  via a big one time service event with the student body.  §3. SGA Chapel – make §Create Bonner Promo Video by Nov 30, 2011 §1. Meet with Rob D and Kayla G §2. Record student during site service §3. Give to Rob and Russ for editing §4. Set up on SCC /Bonner webpages announcements §4. Show up at open houses
