VISION

In 400 words or less, please describe your Big Idea. What is it and why have you decided to work on it this year? How may it strengthen your program, campus, and/or community?

The mission of the Environmental Sustainability Conference is to educate our fellow Bonners, community partners and willing participants, and the emerging generation of DePauw University leaders about the effects their choices (both personal and as a campus) have on the health of the environment and the issues that we are currently facing and how we can help improve the status of our environment. This conference will be held at Prindle Institute for Ethics, one of two Lead GOLD eco-friendly structures on campus. The mission is also to preserve, conserve, and restore the Earth to a healthy and sustainable state. We are the PROBLEM but we are the SOLUTION. The aim is to further define our own interpretation of Sustainability and what it means to sustain a community for future generations. This conference offers an opportunity for students, professionals, community partners and other parties to review recent developments and implement new ones in this rapidly changing environment.

This conference will serve as a great way to lead by example to our respective communities and also as a forefront for other regions to begin their own conference around a pressing issue. One objective is to ensure the building of Team RUST's communication and sharing of resources during and following this conference.
