Support Plan Resources
You'll find that your campus support plans are broken down into three primary categories. After surveying a range of issues across the network and the resources we have available, we have gathered some common resources that may be helpful to improve these areas.
Community Service & Impact
- Finding & Orienting New Community Partners
- Introductory Toolkit for Partners — Building more developmental placements
- Bonner Brochure (Word) (PDF): great communications/marketing tool
- Partnership Workbook (PDF): companion to the brochure, walks community partners through the program, contains worksheets for discussing developmental and higher-level placements
- Semester Plan (PDF): this doc can be left behind for partners to complete and return to solidify placement requests — this can also be used as a Partner Application
- Partner Evaluations
- International Partnerships
- Service Abroad Handbook Series: a handbook for students on preparing for an abroad experience, a handbook for administrators in building a culture of international service on campus and supporting students through the process, and a handbook for potential international partners that introduces the Bonner Program and includes a CLA workbook
Student Development & Leadership
- Building Your Training & Enrichment Calendar
- Use this Sample Bonner Training Calendar to help lay out a sequence of topics, which utilize the training modules, in a developmental progression tied to Bonner skills, Common Commitments, and knowledge areas: SampleBonnerTrainingCalen.doc
- Use this Roadmap Planning Tool as a worksheet to plan your own developmental sequence, starting with identifying learning outcomes for each stage in the program: BlankNewRoadmap1.doc
- See instructions and schools' examples here: http://bonnernetwork.pbworks.com/Roadmap-Planning-Tool
- Cornerstone Activities: Process & Best Practices
- Summer Placements
- Student Leadership: Models, Innovations, Roles & Responsibilities
- Student Handbook Live: a great way to get students oriented with the program and possibilities for leadership
- Student Leadership Org. Charts: 3 models gathered from across the network, featuring a range of roles, responsibilities, and possibilities for leadership in your program. Click here for even more models.
Campus-Wide Collaboration & Culture
- Faculty Engagement: Strategies & Successes
- The CBR Wiki contains faculty-oriented materials and best practices, including downloadable presentations, a database of course and project examples, and planning documents— http://cbrnet.pbworks.com/
- The Curricular Implementation Guide is a gateway to action-oriented strategies as well as more information about the Civic Engagement Academic Minor/Certificate (including essays by faculty, sample syllabi, and more).
- Issues to Impact—Overview
- For a detailed guide for how to engage students in doing policy research and producing an Issue Brief, see this Intern Research Guide (located on PolicyOptions Wiki).
- Also peruse samples on that site, organized by topic.
