Things to know:

  • Orientation can set the tone for a new Bonner's experience in the program

  • Allow time for the following content:

    • History, vision, mission, and expectations of Bonner Program

    • Community Building

    • Intro to campus and community

    • Personal reflections and team building

Best Practices:

  • Have an agenda and show the strength of your team (staff and student leaders)

  • Hold before school starts

  • Incorporate your Community Partners

  • Use returning Bonners as Orientation Leaders

  • Allow time for fun (bowling trips, etc...)

  • Hold portions overnight and off campu

Orientation Resources:

Freshman Orientation-- this is more from a coordinator's point of view

Orientation Goals and Overview-- geared more towards Bonner Scholars, but helpful for anyone!

Freshman Orientation Collaboration-- use these pages on the wiki to discuss different activities and learn from other schools!
