About Kanuga and the Meeting

We are pleased to announce that the Fall Bonner Meeting for administrators will be held November 9-12, 2014 at Kanuga Conference Center. Kanuga Center is located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, approximately 30 minutes from the Asheville Regional Airport.  See the Logistics and Travel  page for more information.

Affiliated with the Episcopal Church since 1928, Kanuga Conferences is situated on 1,400 mountain acres near Hendersonville, North Carolina, with scenic Kanuga Lake at its center. They welcome more than 25,000 guests annually to the year-round conference center, Camp Kanuga, Camp Bob and the Mountain Trail Outdoor School.  Camp Bob is also a Bonner Partner at which students from several schools have served.  Several Bonners and Bonner Alumni have worked at Kanuga during the school year and summer.

The meeting will begin with registration before dinner on Sunday, November 9 and culminate before lunch on Wednesday, November 12.  Our meeting will include a mix of all-group sessions, elective workshops, and strategy sessions,  focusing on both taking stock of our programs and forging ways to move our work forward.

We’ll plan on including one dinner off site (during which participants may drive to Hendersonville easily or a bit further to Asheville), but other meals will be included.  Lodging will be provided in Kanuga’s historic cottages and stone inn.  We’ll also plan on building in time for fun recreational activities, which may include boating, a visit to the Dupont State Forest waterfalls, the home of poet Carl Sandburg, and even a rock climbing wall (sign ups will occur through the upcoming survey).
