Organization Description: A privately funded statewide nonprofit committed to developing future leaders through education.  In partnership with competitive secondary schools, NJ SEEDS provides access to opportunities for highly motivated, academically qualified, economically disadvantaged students.  NJ SEEDS is a 14-month academic enrichment program for low-income students which later feeds them into prep schools.

Internship Position


Internship Description: Volunteers are especially needed to work as tutors and mentors at NJ SEEDS Saturday programs during the school year. These programs are located in various New Jersey communities.  Volunteers would work with students serving as mentors, academic advisors, and role models. NJ SEEDS also offers paid internships fors students working at the six-week residential summer enrichment program. Although these positions are often filled by NJ SEEDS alumni, Bonner Scholars are welcome to apply. Interns receive a stipend of $1800-$2000 for the summer program as well as room and board. Responsibilities Include:

Assisting teachers with daily classroom activities, teaching, substitute teaching for absent Language Arts, Mathematics, or Science teachers, monitoring students during meals, study hall, Physical Education activities, and workshops.  Interns may be asked to assist with special projects and will teach one elective course, supervise students in dorms, design and facilitate workshops and activities, and participate in tutorial sessions.
