Organization Description: Our mission is to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling. Hostelling International operates youth hostels in major gateway cities and offers student interns opportunities to meet people from around the world, experience new cultures and communities, and design interpretive, educational programs for diverse audiences.

Internship Description: A variety of internship positions in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and Seattle are available year round for qualified students. Interns may serve in Marketing Assistance and/or as Programs and Education Coordinators with opportunities including:
- Developing and facilitating programs for international travelers, youth groups, and local community members.
- Organizing local volunteers to assist with hostel programming.
- Developing educational program packages for youth groups.
- Organizing focus groups with varied audiences for program needs assessments.
We believe volunteers and interns are an essential part of the hostelling movement, playing a key role in sharing their own life experiences and passion for travel with hostellers locally and from around the world. HI-AYH volunteers will be vital contributors to the future of hostelling by providing innovative ideas, resources, and serving as hostelling ambassadors in their local communities.
Student Qualifications:
- Junior or Senior level student preferred.
- All majors in Liberal Arts, Education, Nonprofit Administration, or Child Development encouraged to apply.
- Excellent writing and research skills, desktop publishing and Internet research skills.
