Organization Description: Generation Five is a non-profit organization that brings together diverse community leaders working to end child sexual abuse within five generations. Our programs provide leadership training to

community members, activists and agency professionals and foster national strategy and information exchange on child sexual abuse. We are not a direct service organization; rather, we work in

collaboration with service providers to ensure that affordable, culturally relevant support is available to survivors, offenders, and affected families. Our Staff and Board of Directors are committed to maintaining core leadership based in community and reflective of the diverse race, class, culture, ethnicity, gender, and sexual identities of those affected by child sexual abuse. As a fundamental part of our structure, we work in alliance with local and national organizations to develop model child sexual abuse prevention and response strategies.

Internship Position

Internship Description: Generation Five (G5) invites academic and non-academic interns to participate for 6 week or longer internships. We develop interns’ skills and knowledge while interns support the organizations long-term strategic goal of ending child sexual abuse within five generations. Child sexual abuse is an issue with a long history of suppression and denial -- genuine change requires long-term vision and short-term strategy based in an understanding of the impact of trauma. G5 is creating sustainable plans for a multi-generation change in public systems, community values, and personal practices.   Gen5 provides all interns with comprehensive training and support. The goal is a mutually beneficial commitment that rewards the internís investment in Gen5 and Gen5ís investment in the intern. Interns may work in the following program areas (dependent on intern’s interests and the needs of the organization): Research, Program Development, Community Outreach, Community Action Projects, Fundraising, Special Events and Public Relations, and Volunteer Recruitment & Training.
