Internship Position
Internship Description: If you are interested in Christian youth ministry, you will have an extraordinary opportunity to observe and work with many youth workers and their groups over the course of your time with us. While facilitating groups in the city will be your primary responsibility, you will also be exposed to a wide variety of urban ministries and organizations. A CSM city host helps to bridge the gap between suburban/rural people and city people. Part of the challenge of this position involves framing each activity so that the participants understand their role, which is to serve the ministries and organizations in the city. The city host also leads discussion/reflection sessions at the end of each day to help the participants begin to process their experiences.
As a CSM City Host you will be challenged in your walk with Jesus Christ, you will grow in your knowledge and understanding of the city and its people, you will learn how to work with all kinds of people in all sorts of situations and you will serve God in a tangible way.
City Hosts are responsible for hosting groups of Junior High, High School, College, family and adult groups in the city by:
orienting them to the city and CSM rules and guidelines;
framing each ministry site and activity;
guiding them to each site and restaurant;
facilitating their entire schedule and leading evening discussions and debriefs to help them process their experiences.
Internship Start/End Dates:
Internship Length: 10-12 weeks
Application Process: Email jobs@csm.org with your name, address, email address and phone number requesting instructions on how to apply for city host or go to our website at www.csm.org/seasonal.php to see more information.
After you have completed your application, a phone interview, we have spoken with your references, and feel as though you would be a good fit, you will need to schedule a visit to one of our ministry sites (preferably the one where you are most interested in serving, although any site is adequate). While at the site you will shadow a host for at least two to three days and complete a shorter, secondary interview. This site visit is required even if you have participated in a CSM group before. We have groups scheduled year round on weekends and also for six day periods. This visit can be difficult to schedule, so please contact us early to make sure you can fulfill this requirement.
For more information about applying for this job please contact us at jobs@csm.org or call 267-928-2620 or visit our website: http://www.csm.org.
