Organization Description: Camphill Soltane is a life-sharing community of 80 people, including young adults ages 18-25, and adults age 25 and up, with developmental disabilities. Our 5-year Learning for Life program for young adults encompasses academic study, arts and music, pre-vocational exploration, and work and service components with a Waldorf-inspired curriculum. A number of on-campus Enterprises - including a weavery/textile design studio, bakery, and food co-op - provide meaningful work opportunities for older community members. Soltane also has strong connections with the surrounding community through off-campus job placements.

At Camphill Soltane, we work out of the framework of advocacy, recognizing that people with disabilities can speak for themselves and can make choices about their lives. Coworkers support people in achieving their goals through person-centered processes.

New coworkers receive a year of effective and inspiring training through participation in the Soltane Seminar for Social Healing, which has been approved for up to 14 college credit recommendations. The Seminar covers a diverse array of topics including supporting people with disabilities through use of Positive Approaches, and exploring anthroposophy in connection with inner development and social therapy. Please see our website for a complete description of this training.

Camphill Soltane is located on 50 acres of beautiful Pennsylvania countryside, 1 hour west of Philadelphia, 2.5 hours from New York City, and close to restaurants, shopping, and numerous cultural attractions.
