Organization Description: Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Camp Bob is a traditional summer camp for disadvantaged, at-risk, and homeless children. An outreach program of the Kanuga Conference Center, Camp Bob serves over 1200 campers each year. Communities, persons, and organizations from the eastern United States sponsor children in their area to attend Camp Bob for weeklong sessions.  The campers are ages 8-12 and attend at no cost.  The sponsoring organizations recruit the campers from after-school programs, Boys and Girls' clubs, under-resourced public schools, transitional housing units, and homeless shelters.  While the children can be challenging and different, in most ways they are just kids who, for whatever reason, might not otherwise be able to attend camp. Working at Camp Bob is a rewarding work experience because your efforts really do make a difference in the campers' lives.

Each January, Camp Bob begins accepting applications for summer staff. We are looking for Christian role models who have a strong desire to work with a diverse population of challenging children in the outdoors.  The summer begins with a week and a half of staff training, a time where staff are taught

all the necessary skills to work with campers effectively.  CPR and First Aid Training are provided with the oppurtunity for a Lifeguard certification if desired.  This time is followed by eleven weeks of fast-paced camping sessions.  Camp activities include swimming, climbing, archery, canoeing, arts & crafts,

dance, outdoor living skills, fishing, sports, hiking, and more!
