Organization Description: Amizade is a nonprofit organization that was started with the idea of saving the rain forest by helping the people of the rain forest. Amizade offers alternative travel programs that are a mix of community service and recreation which provide volunteers with the unique opportunity to participate first hand in the culture of the region where they are traveling whether that be the Brazilian Amazon, Bolivian Andes, or the Greater Yellowstone Region. Our mission is to promote volunteerism and provide needed community service in locations throughout the world. Issue areas include: environment, AIDS, education, children, and health.

Internship Position
Internship Description:
Amizade programs offer a mix of community service and recreation that provide our volunteers with the unique opportunity to participate first hand in the culture of the region where they are working.
Internships range from 7 days to 3 months in duration.
Application Process:
Your application will be reviewed within 2 weeks of receipt at the Amizade Office and notification of your acceptance will be emailed to you at the address listed on your application. Student enrollment is awarded on a rolling admissions system; please apply as early as possible to ensure your place in a program.
Once accepted into a program, participants receive enrollment information and program documents to review and complete. More information about the program registration process is available on the Accepted Students pages.

Stipend Provided? No
Housing Provided? As stated in the transportation section, the Amizade Global Service-Learning Consortium Staff will take care of the logistics of the program such as meals, housing, transportation and recreation.

Service Opportunity Description:
For groups of six or more, Amizade can customize programs to develop an alternative break/service learning program that would fit the needs of the group.
