The University of Louisville is a state supported public university located in the lively city of Louisville, KY.  U of L thrives in the community of Louisville, and the two are very interconnected.  The University is probably most well known for its college sports, however U of L houses many different activities and extra-curriculars and an eager student body!

The University of Louisville Bonner Leaders Program began at the University of Louisville in 2001.  It is housed in our Service Learning Office on campus and is led by our Service Learning Coordinator, Kim Shaver.

MORE ABOUT US (our partners, trips, structure, best or unique practices)

Recently, a team of Bonner Leaders and staff along with representatives from Campus and Community Partners attended the Summer Leadership Institute in Deland, Florida. Kim Shaver, UofL's Bonner Director, co-presented a session on community gardening.  Toma Smith and Katie Trimble, Bonner Leaders, presented a workshop that examines reflection within Bonner Programs and provided new ideas for campuses to use in their reflection. Gerome Stephens (UofL's Coordinator of Student Leadership), Kim Shaver, and Adam Fiallos (Development Associate for the Frazier International History Museum) presented a workshop which discussed the use of the partnership's Serve 2.0 tools. Finally, Toma Smith and Jardana Peacock (Community Education Coordinator for the Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research) presented a workshop which uses Participatory Action Research (PAR) to build partnerships between campuses and community in order to collaborate on research for advocacy, public policy, campaigns, and programs.
