MORE ABOUT US (our partners, trips, structure, best or unique practices)

This year, 08-09, we are piloting a new program called Weekends of Service.  WEOS will happen once during each of the three main academic quarters.  The Bonners will create 4-6 local service projects that will engage the campus in community service.  Our first Weekend of Service is coming November 15 & 16 and our focus in on Health & Hunger.  We have over 100 students signed up to particpate in five projects in Davis and Woodland (next town).  These include a meal at a homeless shelter, making quilts for chronically ill children, helping the Yolo County Food Bank, a knit-a-thon making infant beanies and blankets and cleaning a storage area at a homeless shelter.  In February 09 our Weekend of Service will focus on Families & Children and in April the proejcts will focus on the Envirnoment.  All our projects will be within our local county in an effort to help the  Bonner Leaders learn more about local resources and needs and to give other UC Davis students a chance to see the region more clearly.
