The Reciprocal Relationship Between Campus and Community Partners in a Long-Term S-L Model

Page history last edited by Robert Hackett 14 years ago
The Bonner Foundation has agreed to facilitate the completion of a dissertation study through Mercer University to investigate community partner experiences and outcomes of a long-term service-learning program model from the point of view of the community partner. It is hoped that what is learned from the data collected in this study will be used in the future development and design of service-learning partnerships. This project is designed to give voice to community partners participating in the Bonner Scholar Program.

The study will involve an anonymous electronic survey which will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Following the survey, participants will be given an opportunity to provide contact information if they would like to participate in a 15-20 minute follow-up telephone interview. A total of 120 possible participants in the online survey, in addition to 10-20 possible participants in the telephone interview, will be recruited for this project.

Because of your close work with community partners involved in the Bonner Scholar Program you are being asked to provide the contact information for five community partners that meet the following criteria:

  • They work for a non-profit organization in partnership with the Bonner Scholar Program;
  • They work for an organization that has been in a minimum of a four-year continuous partnership with the Bonner Scholar Program; and
  • They are in the role of director/head of the organization.

If you have any questions pertaining to this study, you may contact Robert Hackett at the Bonner Foundation (rhackett@bonner.org) or the principal investigator, Timothy T. Bryant, at (513) 244-4504 or timothy.bryant@student.mercer.edu. This project has been reviewed and approved by Mercer University’s IRB. If you believe there is any infringement upon participants’ rights as research subjects, you may contact the IRB Chair at (478) 301-4101.
