MORE ABOUT US (our partners, trips, structure, best or unique practices)
ANNUAL REPORT OF PROGRAM ACTIVITIES: Here at Stetson, we are so very proud of our students. While there are all kinds of best practices on which we can comment, our "Bonner Lead Team" is the most newsworthy. It is in the lead team that our pledge to student empowerment is demonstrated. Eight students each year, under the council of a senior intern and program coordinator, are selected to run our Bonner program. Not only do these student leaders plan trainings, retreats, and capstone activities, but also mentor their peers. "Family events" are held each month, during which relationships, some of the most important outcomes of our program, are built. To stay on top of things, the Lead Team meets before each semester for three days. Weekly meetings are also held, during which successes, challenges, and ideas are shared.
Serve 2.0 is another area of which we are very proud. After hosting several in-depth Serve 2.0 training sessions, our students were amply prepared to take ownership of our program wiki. They use it on a regular basis to brainstorm and plan events. Many have gone above and beyond our expectations by creating and using wikis for their student organizations and community partners. This use of technology has transformed our campus and increased the effectiveness of our office. In order to share these benefits with others, three Bonner interns will host a Serve 2.0 Institute in early August for both service-learning faculty and community partners.
