Service Trip for Class of 2012 to Birmingham Alabama 

Theme: SANKOFA; Returning, Reclaiming and Renewing 

 

 The Bonner Scholars freshmen class of 2012 partnered with Urban Ministries United Methdist Church and the Joe Rush Urban Center located in Birmingham Alabama.  The Joe Rush Center for Urban Mission seeks to strengthen and support the faith of youth and adults through Bible study, prayer, worship, and hands-on service.  They build Christian unity through active participation in a culturally diverse urban setting. Impact:  National Student Conference on Service Advocacy and Social Action: University of Maryland

 

Bonner Congress representatives Shafiquah Faust and Gabrielle Gant attended the conference and presented  a workshop on service and leadership.

Bonner Summer Leadership Institute Training in Deland Florida at Stetson University

 

Five (5) Bonner scholars attended Bonner Summer Leadership Institute Training in DeLand, Florida. Bonner program Assistant Kerry Dean Nugent also attended the conference.

                • Need for additional training:  Yes. Would like to have all staff familiar with training for usage th April 27 one hour training was not sufficient.  J. China and K.                 • Please note: This survey is for the Spring semester slots only. It does not matter if your campus had previously requested slots and have "left overs." Please fill out this survey to specify how many members your campus will enroll this semester. If you do not want slots, they should fill it in with zeroes. We will be sending out a Summer and Fall request as well, so this is only for this semester. 

                 

                Issue-Based Research

                 

                General Support:

                Still working on getting things in place. Getting people identified to act as leads and teams for these projects and be involved in these areas.

                 

                Want a training on Twitter, Google, Map, Wiki. Sheryl does not feel familiar with these technologies.

                 

                Visit-start thinking about dates that would be important for a Foundation presence, etc.
