The Bonner Scholars Program’s senior interns will assist the director with a variety of administrative and programmatic duties. Each senior intern will also have specific responsibilities based on her/his expertise and interest. This position, available to Bonner Scholars entering their fourth year at Oberlin College, is designed to serve as an educational experience that will prepare them for their future career. Individuals who have a strong commitment to the Bonner Scholars Program and an interest in administration and programming are encouraged to apply for the position. The Bonner office will serve as the Bonner Scholar’s main service site for a minimum of 7 hours per week.
Each senior intern has the following basic requirements:1. Demonstrate organizational and leadership skills;
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills;
3. Strong commitment to the Bonner Scholars Program;
4. Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Internet;
5. Must be entering his/her fourth year at Oberlin College;
6. Must be available for a one-year commitment; and
7. Although not required, prior participation in the Activist Leadership and Learning Institute for Engaged Service (A.L.L.I.E.S.) and Student Leadership Institute is strongly encouraged.
Each senior intern position has the same general duties:1. General office tasks:
• Assist with office phone coverage and greet visitors at the CSL;
• File documents;
• Create and update documents;
• Write and send mail correspondence; and
• All other duties as assigned.
2. Liaison among the Bonner office, Bonner Scholars, and Site Supervisors
• Make periodic phone calls to Bonner Scholars and Site Supervisors;
• Follow-up with Site Supervisors regarding scholars’ performance;
• Assist Bonner Scholars with handling challenges at their site;
• Run errands on campus and/or within the community; and
• Track attendance for required Bonner meetings and activities.
3. Training and Leadership duties:
• Work with the director to implement the Common Commitments, Bonner Developmental Model and skill sets
heavily into the Bonner Scholars Program;
• Help the director creatively address the needs and issues of Bonner Scholars and Site Supervisors;
• Lead workshops and exercises at Bonner meetings, retreats and other activities;
• Prepare for and attend Bonner meetings, retreats, and other activities; and
• Recruit Bonner Scholars to attend conferences and meetings sponsored by the Bonner Foundation (i.e. COOL conference, Student Leadership Institute), as well as organize logistics for these events.ple Job Description
• Assists in planning and development of orientation and training activities, manages monthly paperwork, provides leadership to campus-wide service and leadership programs through the CILSA Community Engagement Council. Vince's student group focus is the Cummins Summer for the Common Good. This position happens February through August
• General Statement of Duties: The Bonner Senior Intern is a part-time position in the Center for Service Leadership, working 10-14 hours/week. They assist the Director and Coordinator with all aspects of the Bonner Scholars Program.
Experience:The Bonner Senior Intern should be someone who has demonstrated leadership and dedication to the Bonner Scholars Program in the past. They must be a Senior in the Program.
Duties:• Serve as a liaison between Director/Coordinator and Bonners
• Serve as chair of Service Board
• Serve as a member of the Leadership Team
• Serve as an Orientation Leader for the New Bonner Orientation
• Assist in the use of BWBRS by helping students with the system and helping the Coordinator approve hours.
• Coordinate Student Transportation Schedules
• Plan Events
• Update Bonner Publications (Bonner Directory, forms, etc.)
• Assist in directing other student workers
• Attend the Bonner Summer Leadership Institute
• Complete other duties as assigned
The Bonner Senior Intern reports to the Coordinator of the Bonner Scholars Program
