CAMPUS AT A GLANCE (brief description)
Oxford College is a two year undergraduate program of Emory University. Oxford students spend their freshman and sophomore year at Oxford (Oxford, GA) and then continue on at the main campus (Atlanta, GA) to complete their majors.
Oxford's programs are liberal arts intensive. This means that whether students are studying the sciences, social sciences, humanities or the arts, we give special emphasis to developing our students' fundamental intellectual skills, their breadth of knowledge, and the ability to integrate knowledge and skills from diverse fields to solve real world problems. This is a deep and durable kind of learning that continues to serve our graduates throughout their lives. After completing two years on the Oxford campus, students may elect to continue their educations on the Atlanta campus in Emory College (liberal arts), or they may apply to Emory's Woodruff School of Nursing or Emory's Goizueta School of Business to complete their degrees.
Many students choose Oxford for its sense of community. The town of Oxford is picturesque and welcoming. Classes are small (average = 18) and students get to know each other as friends working together to achieve course goals. This same spirit is found in the residence halls, and as students participate in social, club, athletic and service activities. What emerges is a supportive community that guides character development and development of important life skills.

MORE ABOUT US (our partners, trips, structure, best or unique practices)
On March 8th, 2008 12 Bonner Leaders along with 33 Oxford College of Emory University students and staff attended the alternative spring break trip to New Orleans, Louisiana in reponse to those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Members of the Oxford College community were able to lend a hand by re-painting homes in the Ninth Ward, landscaping in Musician's Village, assembling 450 sandwiches and distributing them to homeless men and women and gutting damaged homes. One afternoon, Oxford students had the opportunity to hear from the Executive Director of the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity and fellow Oxford alum, Jim Pate, who spoke about the economics behind housing reconstruction and the importance of community involvement. In the evenings, the Bonner Leaders led team-building and reflection exercises. Following the trip, the group continued to make New Orleans relief an important issue by raising over $1400 that was donated to the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity.
Breakfast with the Bonner Leaders
At the end of the year, we celebrate by inviting our community partners to come to campus to listen to presentations made by the Bonner Leaders on the impact that the community placement has had on the Bonner and the impact that the Bonner has had on the community placement. This year's breakfast was even more special because we were also able to celebrate the graduation of our 1st class of Bonner Leaders! It was a wonderful morning full of emotion.
The Washington Street Community Center was one of the first agencies to be a recipient of an Oxford College Bonner Leader. The Bonner Leaders tutor and coordinate the after-school enrichment program which allows for the Bonners to really get to know the students they work with at the center. Through her experiences at Washington Street, one Bonner Leader graduate, has seen how a community can effectively deal with hurdles such as poverty and academic underperformance.
