Campus Organizational Structure

Bonner Program Campus Infrastructure

Organizational Chart | Bonner Constitution/Handbook | Resource Documents

The Bonner Program should be housed within the central campus service office, wherever that may be located. However, regardless of where it is located, the Bonner Foundation requests that the Director of the Bonner Program report on the program's progress directly to the President.

Organizational Chart

Every Bonner Scholar campus is required to have at least one full-time Bonner Scholars Program coordinator or director (see the Bonner Rules for a detailed description of the Foundation’s staffing requirements). In most instances, we ask that the director of the campus-wide service organization also serve as the Director of the Bonner Scholars Program, with the position of Bonner Scholars Program Coordinator being separate.

Campus-wide service centers vary in the overall staff composition. However, most have the following positions: (1) professional administrative support staff, (2) work-study students as support or project staff, (3) student volunteers as service project coordinators, an (4) an Advisory Board made up of a cross-section of students, other campus staff, faculty, and community leaders. Brief descriptions of the role each of these people play in the Bonner Program can be found below.

Bonner Constitution/Handbook

Many Bonner campuses have written Bonner Constitutions that define the rights and responsibilities of Bonner Scholars/Leaders, as well as the organizational structure and processes. The rest have accomplished these goals through their Bonner Handbooks which are handed out to all students each Fall.

These printed documents are effective in clarifying procedures and policies, including the Bonner Program’s purpose, standards, requirements, and structures. In addition, constitutions often govern the establishment of student committees for key program areas, such as recruitment and selection, regular meetings, advisory committees, placement, budgets, and communication.
