NOFA-NJ's Twilight Meetings Beginning on Wednesday, May 5th! 
 
NOFA-NJ's Twilight meetings are informal workshops gearedtowards growers, large and small, that highlight unique and innovative production and marketing methods that we believe are keeping agriculture viablein New Jersey. The first Twilight Meeting of 2010 will be held on Wednesday, May 5 th, from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm.  Come learn about "Different Methods of Bio-Intensive Bed Preparation".
This is a hands-on workshop!  Come with a shovel and explore the double dig method inspired by John Jeavons as well as help build some no-till sheet mulched beds.  Learn the benefits of both methods and go home with a plan.  The meeting will be held at Stonehedge Farm, 163 Hopewell - Wertsville Road, Hopewell, NJ  08525.

  Organic Gardening Series - Learn to Grow Healthy and Tasty Produce! Whether you are an organic gardening newbie or an experienced gardener, the Organic Gardening Series will provide you with time-tested production information as well as opportunities to discuss specific issues related to your garden. Each session will provide you with information that will enable you to grow your own vegetables in a way that is safe for you, your family and the environment.  Classes will be held on the second Saturday of the month, April through September, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Duke Farms Visitor Center.  Coming up next week:  Saturday, May 8th: Compost, Mulch, Worms, Garbage, Compost Tea and More.   Nature createscompost/humus all the time without human intervention -- but as gardeners, you can step in and speed up the process to improve your soil and garden production, even if you garden on a windowsill.   To register, have your credit card ready and call (908) 722-3700 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This workshop, taught by accredited organic landscaping professionals, will educate homeowners on why organic land care is important and will provide the information and tools needed to transition from conventional land care to organic or to deepen an already existing organic land care  practice. Whether you take care of your own lawn or use a landscaping service, this class is for you! Fee: $40.00.
