Developing Respect and Trust Within a Group

Motivating a Team

Action: Here are two activities to build mutual respect and trust in your team.

Your team will work harder if they respect and trust you as a leader.

Your team will work better and smarter if they trust and respect each other.

Summary:

The first activity is a couple Trust-Building Initiatives.  They will give participants the experience of relying on one another and being reliable for one another.

The second activity, Four Corners, encourages participants to share their views openly through a creative dialogue format.

Objectives:

-    Build mutual trust, critical thinking, dialogue and respect for diverse viewpoints.

-    Build listening skills, self-reflection and empathy.

Level:

These activities are appropriate for EVERYONE, but they require a group that is willing to trust one another.  If you have never facilitated a trust lean we recommend that you read our directions carefully and try it with a friend before leading your group in it.  (Video coming soon!)

Materials:

Writing utensils for everyone involved

Handouts with 3-5 prepared statements.

Preparation:

As a facilitator you will need to carefully review these activities.  If you are not familiar with Four Corners you may want to read this brief summary.
