  • 7/1/09 — Concord University Economic Recovery VISTA Position: The program is designed to help Mercer County, West Virginia, non-profits better meet the needs of families and individuals in need of services as a result of the recession. Activities include: identify the non-profit service agencies, schools, and churches that are receiving appeals for help from families or individuals suffering from the economic downturn; Conduct a needs assessment through surveys, interviews, and/or meetings with the above organizations to determine which of the various needs (e.g., food, clothing, housing, transportation, utility assistance, child care, or other) are the greatest in the Concord community; Once the most urgent need for the community has been identified (there may be one or more, depending upon the community existing framework for collaboration among agencies), the VISTA will organize meetings of non-profits, churches, and schools that seek to meet those needs. He/she will facilitate collaboration among the organizations to improve the efficient use and distribution of available resources. In addition, the VISTA will work with these service providers to identify grant funding opportunities or other ways to access additional food, clothing, staff, and other resources to increase the assistance available to weather recessionary times in the community. The recovery VISTA will also work with the current VISTA members at Concord University to incorporate student service and/or service learning into the recovery project whenever possible.
  • 7/1/09 — Concord University AmeriCorps VISTA Positions at the Bonner House for Campus-Wide Community Service: The House seeks to involve students, faculty and staff at Concord University in Athens, West Virginia, in service and service related activities, both academic and co-curricular. The staff have been active in organizing and leading alternative break service projects, immersion experiences and service projects for course requirements. Other programs that are available at the Bonner House include AmeriCorps participation available through the Bonner Foundation and grant positions for policy analysis and expanding the use of technology in community outreach. The VISTAs would work with these projects. 
  • 6/30/09 â€” Washburn University AmeriCorps*VISTA Literacy Coordinator: Learning in the Community (LinC) - The Center for Community Service and Civic Engagement at Washburn University invites applications for the position of AmeriCorps*VISTA Literacy Coordinator. This is a one year (with the possibility of renewal for an additional year), full-time position reporting to the Director of the Center for Community Service and Civic Engagement. 
  • 6/30/09 â€” Siena College Assistant Director/Coordinator of the Siena College Bonner Service Leaders Program: At the start of its third academic year of a Bonner Program, after the leadership of a VISTA Fellow, the College seeks to hire a fulltime Assistant Director/Coordinator of the Siena College Bonner Service Leaders Program.  Working primarily with the Office of the President, the Franciscan Center for Service & Advocacy, the Office of the College Chaplain, the Siena VISTA Fellows Program, the Community Based Research Consortium of the Capital Region (4CR), as well as others on the campus, the position offers the unique opportunity for working with Bonners (and other undergraduate students), faculty, staff and administration to integrate academics and service within the framework of Siena’s DEEP Service model.
