2009 Fall Bonner Congress Meeting

October 2009

University of Richmond in Richmond, VA

Logistics and Travel

Recommended Travel:

BY CAR (CARPOOLS RECOMMENDED):  If your Bonner Program is within a 7 mile radius of Richmond, VA, we would recommend that students drive.  The programming will start at roughly 3:00 pm, allowing students to leave their home areas by about 8:00 am or so.

If you would like to carpool with other schools, visit this page on the wiki to post your interests and route. We'll use social media tools (such as the Bonner Network Forum) to connect people.

BY AIR:  Fly to Richmond Airport - if you do so, there will be a shuttle to/from University of Richmond.  When you register (see link on Registration page), you will be asked to provide the times of your flight arrival and departures.  We will later post a shuttle schedule here on the Bonner Network Wiki.  Shuttle times will be finalized after assessing the number of schools and rides needed.  However, the registration asks which of the times may work best.

BY TRAIN:  There is also a train into Richmond (AMTRAK).  From the train station, there is a bus that students can catch to the University of Richmond campus.  Again, you will indicate your travel method when registering, which will help conference organizers with other logistics that may help you.  Thanks!

PARKING: Free parking is available on campus. You will recieve a parking pass at registration for the appropriate parking lot.

Driving Directions to Campus

Campus Map (check in is in the Tyler Haynes Commons, Alice Haynes Room (#4 on the map)

Lodging:

ON CAMPUS (PROVIDED BY RICHMOND):  All participating students will be provided with on-campus housing with hosts (Richmond students). Hence, students will likely be sleeping in host students' dormitories, so BRING A SLEEPING BAG AND PILLOW.

OTHER AREA LODGING:  Schools are welcome to seek out other lodging options (hotels/motels). However, you/your program will be responsible for these costs. We'd recommend you use the link above to find these rooms and search by proximity to campus.

Meals:

RICHMOND DINING HALL:  All participating students will be provided with dinner on Friday and Saturday, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and lunch on Saturday.  The conference ends at lunch on Sunday, and we anticipate most will want to begin traveling home immediately (eating lunch in transit).
