Defiance College is an independent, co-educational, four year liberal arts college located on a 150-acre campus in a residential area of small town Defiance, Ohio. The small-town atmosphere, student life, athletics, the school's work in the field of service learning, and picturesque campus helped the college to be recognized as one of the best colleges in 2008 as featured in U.S. News and World Report.

- The College was founded in 1850 as the Defiance Female Seminary School. Became known as Defiance College in 1903 and is affliated with the United Church of Christ.
- The name Defiance comes from General "Mad" Anthony Wayne upon the creation of Fort Defiance during the campaign against Ohio Native Americans in 1794.
