  • Several courses in the Public Policy and Community Service major have service-learning components designed to work towards issues of sustainable economic development in different communities.
  • Those classes include, but are not limited to Introduction to Public Policy and Community Service, Community Organizing, Applied Civic Methodologies, Politics and Public Policy, Race, Class, Gender and Sexuality, Sustainable Community Development, the Senior Practicum placement, and Senior Seminar.

  • Bonner scholars working on sustainable economic development are involved in weekly reflection activities.

  • The Appalachian Center for Community Service has made Sustainable Economic Development one of it's four focus groups. Through it's efforts, it has worked in community partnerships with Big Creek, West Virginia, Meadowview, Virginia, and Fries, Virginia.

  • Many responses have been collected from community gatherings and forums as well as through community needs assesments.
  • The Appalachian Center for Community Service has worked with the places it is partnered to identify strengths and needs of the community. Then, working with the community members, The Center is helping find resources to address those needs.
