Organization Description: The Fund for Theological Education (FTE) is a leading advocate for excellence and diversity in Christian ministry.  Its work supports the next generation of leaders among pastors and scholars ñ providing fellowships and a network of support to gifted young people from all denominations and racial ethnic backgrounds.

Internship Position


Internship Description:

The Undergraduate Fellowship is for current sophomores or juniors nominated by college faculty, administrators, campus ministers and current pastors to explore ministry as a career option.  Benefits of the program include attendance at the Conference on Excellence in Ministry and a $2,000 stipend for exploration of ministry or educational expenses.  Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens. Applicants must be no older than 30 years of age on September 1, 2008.  Nomination deadline: February 1, 2008. Application deadline: March 15, 2008.

 

The Congregational Fellowship is for students entering a full-time Master of Divinity program at an ATS-accredited institution in the fall of 2008. Benefits of this program include awards ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 to equally match a congregational contribution between $2,000 and $5,000 for tuition and living expenses. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens and no older than 35 years of age on September 1, 2008. Students pursuing Master of Theology (Th.M.) or Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) degrees are not eligible. Application deadline: April 1, 2008.

 

The Ministry Fellowship is for second-year Master of Divinity students who are nominated by the dean or president of an ATS-accredited institution during their first year of seminary. Benefits of this program include attendance at a Congregational Leadership Intensive and a $10,000 stipend to fund a self-designed ministry project and defray educational expenses.  Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens. Students pursuing Master of Theology (Th.M.) or Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) degrees are not eligible. Applicants must be no older than 35 years of age on September 1, 2008.  Application deadline: March 1, 2008.

 

The Doctoral Fellowship is for African-American students entering a Ph.D. or Th.D. program in religion or theology at an accredited institution in the fall of 2008.  Students pursuing Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degrees are not eligible for this fellowship.  Benefits of this program include attendance at the Doctoral Conference and a stipend of up to $18,000, renewable for one additional year.  Applicants must be U.S. citizens.  Application deadline: March 1, 2008.

 

The Dissertation Fellowship is for African-American students enrolled in a Ph.D. or Th.D. program in religion or theology at an accredited institution and who are at the writing stage of their dissertation.  Students pursuing Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degrees are not eligible.  Benefits of this program include attendance at the Doctoral Conference and a stipend of up to $18,000 for one year.  Applicants must be U.S. citizens.  Application deadline: February 1, 2008.

 

The North American Doctoral Fellowship is for racial/ethnic minority students traditionally underrepresented in graduate education and who are currently enrolled full time in a Ph.D. or Th.D. program in religion or theology at an accredited institution.  Students pursuing Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degrees are not eligible.  The fellowship provides a stipend of up to $10,000 for one year.  Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or Canada.  Application deadline:  March 1, 2008.
