St. Mary's Episcopal Church - New York Intern Program

Organization Description: New York Intern Program is a year-long, paid, service-learning program for young adults to strengthen their spiritual lives and discern their vocations through a year of urban service and intentional community living. Five interns share an apartment in St. Mary's Episcopal Church in West Harlem, work at innovative urban agencies, and earn AmeriCorps Education Awards.  (Please note, the housing situation may change in the 08-09 year; contact Sarah Nazimova-Baum for more info about this.)  NYIP exposes young adults to the complexities of systemic injustice while empowering them to explore and enact faith-filled responses.

Internship Position

Internship Description: Examples of full-time internships include working with foster children, former inmates, homeless families and individuals -- doing case work and vocational training, administering programs, teaching, providing social support. Interns themselves receive ongoing support and formation from NYIP staff, and go on five retreats each year.
