Organization Description: Sister Island Project works to promote diversity awareness, cultural exchange, and sustainable development in the Dominican Republic.  Sister Island Project's work in the Dominican Republic is based in Cruz Verde, a poor rural community in the Yabacao region of Monte Plata province.

Internship Position


Internship Description: Interns will stay with a Dominican family while carrying out a variety of service activities, which may include: Assisting with construction of learning center (specific tasks depend on construction progress), planting and caring for plants/trees on property, leading arts or music activities with children, teaching English, collecting research data, offering health/nutrition classes, and carrying out individual service projects based on interest, skills, and needs.

 

Interns should have conversational Spanish ability.

Service Opportunity Description: Come make a difference! Experience the warmth and vibrancy of Dominican culture as you stay with a family, do good work, and have a great time. Spend time in the rural community of Cruz Verde, assisting with our annual arts camp for children and other service activities.  Please see website for current dates and program fees.
