Organization Description: The mission of Mountain Housing Opportunities (MHO) is to build and improve homes, neighborhoods and communities for people of limited resources.  The primary goal of MHO's Emergency Home repair Program is to reduce the immediate threat to life, health and safety in homes owned and occupied by low-income people living in Buncombe County.

Internship Position


Internship Description: Assist Carpenter/Crew Leader of Volunteers with planning and facilitation of volunteer program. Including but not limited to initial contact with approved client, assessment of needed repairs/improvements, project design, job set up, facilitation of volunteer repair groups, and paperwork involved.

 

Intern should have interest in safe/affordable housing related public service; experience with repair/construction helpful but not required. Group facilitation and organizational skills important, leadership skills required.

 

Internship Start/End Dates:

Application Process: Submit written request including rationale, related experience, and at least three references.

Stipend Provided?: $1500 or more

Service Opportunity


 

 

Service Opportunity Description: Work in Asheville/Buncombe County with MHO staff to perform needed repairs including constructing accessibility ramps, porch and stair repair/replacement, and other exterior/interior repairs related to health and safety.
