Organization Description: The mission of Labor of Love is to match the needs of communities affected by disaster with the skills and resources of volunteers in a domestic capacity.

 

There are three ways that Labor of Love can become an integral part of your life as a family, parish, or diocese.

 

1) Readiness:

Labor of Love will serve as an educational resource to lead your parish or diocese in disaster preparation workshops. 

2) Response:

Labor of Love will serve as an emergency resource to guide your parish or diocese through systems and procedures during the crisis of a disaster situation. 

3) Recovery:

Labor of Love will serve as a management resource, and offer volunteer opportunities for volunteers to have an impact on communities, in the long-term recovery stages, following a disaster.

Internship Position


Internship Description: This will be a summer position, and would include all three volunteer trips, beginning on June 1st and finishing on August 21st (June - Arizona, July - North Carolina, and August - West Virginia).

 

This individual will assist the Site Coordinator in the daily operations that surround this ministry. Your work week will vary, and the schedule will be set by the Site Coordinator.

 

You should have a good sense of direction, follow instructions well, be physically fit and able to work hard, understand teamwork, enjoy the outdoors (heat/cold/altitude), have a sense of humor, enjoy working with people, be highly organized, maintain an upbeat and pleasant work ethic when times get difficult, be open to new ideas and the theory of change, and fully understand the term "flexibility".

 

Your responsibilities may/will include: being a professional and courteous representative of Labor of Love, transportation of volunteers, managing large crowds of people, assisting with foodservice, running errands, managing the phone and voicemail, light office work, problem solving, multi-tasking, and much more.
