Organization Description: IHN of Somerset County provides shelter, meals and emotional support to homeless families and single women through volunteers at various religious congregational facilities.  All volunteers are trained to provide basic services in a supportive and respectful way to stress human dignity and empowerment.  Professional services, including case management, counseling, skill training and referral services are provided at the Flynn Day Center. Each network congregation furnishes overnight lodging and meals for three to five families (up to 14 persons) for one week every two to three months on a rotating schedule.  A network program fosters increased awareness of the problems of homelessness and can also be a catalyst in development of other initiatives for the homeless.

Internship Position


Internship Description: IHN of Somerset County provides a complete continuum of care for homeless families and single women through volunteers at various religious congregational facilities. All volunteers are trained to provide basic services in a supportive and respectful way to stress human dignity and empowerment. Professional services, including case management, counseling, skill training and referral services are provided at the Flynn Day Center. In addition to providing these services, IHN also offers Phase 2 Transitional Case Management and Phase 3 Permanent Supported Housing. Each network congregation furnishes overnight lodging and meals for three to five families (up to 14 persons) for one week every two to three months on a rotating schedule. A network program fosters increased awareness of the problems of homelessness and can also be a catalyst in development of other initiatives for the homeless. 

 

Volunteer positions are available year-round for interested individuals.
