Organization Description: EducationWorks provides programs in communities and schools characterized by high rates of poverty and low levels of educational achievement.   Our programs:

•  Provide safe, educationally rich environments for students, particularly during non-school hours and the summer;

•  Enhance the capacity of schools to serve students, their families, and the community; and 

•  Collaboratively engage businesses, agencies, and organizations in support of students.

EducationWorks programs join national service with urban school reform. By enriching the school environment and extending the school day, week and year, our AmeriCorps member and staff teams support the development and educational achievement of children and youth. Students are engaged in positive activities both in and out of school with responsible adults who help them stay in school, inspire their love for learning, teach them ways to solve conflicts without violence, give them a chance to feel great about themselves, take responsibility for school and community, and find hope in their future.  Student and adult programs include reading and literacy development, service learning, arts, homework help and tutoring, recreation, safety and anti-violence, youth leadership and career development.

Internship Position

Internship Description: Summer Camp counselors are needed in our 20+ summer camps in Trenton, NJ and Philadelphia PA.  Under the direction of a Camp Team Leader/Director, counselors guide students in academic and recreation programs including reading, math, art/music/dance, conflict resolution, sports and recreation, and youth leadership development.  Positions are 40 hours per week.  

Internship Start/End Dates: late June/ 3rd/4th week in August
