Discovery Farm

Organization Description: Discovery Farm is a Christian summer camp ministry providing summer vo-tech training for underachieving young men, ages 11-14, and weekend retreats for adults/students.  We are in our third year of operation and are now running five one-week terms during the summer.  The camp is designed to provide structure and motivation for young men during key early teenage years, hopefully giving them tools and knowledge to avoid trouble in the future.  During the camp week, boys will develop skills in auto repair, carpentry, electronics, engine repair, welding, cooking, sewing, or orienteering under the supervision of vo-tech experts, and will engage in Christian discipleship.

Internship Position

Internship Description: Volunteers are needed to work in a number of capacities at Discovery Farm.  The camp is always looking for vo-tech experts to teach young men, but expertise is not required from summer volunteers.  There will be opportunity to learn a skill from an expert, and to teach it by the end of the summer.  Volunteers are also needed to assist with the program operations (cleaning, managing, maintaining web site design, providing voc-tech training, assisting with writing manuals/curriculum, applications, advertisements etc for the camps.  Applicants should be flexible and willing to be trained.  Camp Directors are eager to give summer volunteers a share in the ownership and development of the camp - volunteers will not just be babysitters!  Married couples are especially encouraged to apply.
