Organization DescriptionThe Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Cheyenne Nation is a youth organization dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles, social, educational, vocational, cultural, character and leadership development. It strives to help young people to improve their lives by building self-esteem and development of values and skills during critical periods of growth. The Club endeavors to achieve its goals through collaborative efforts with other agencies.

Internship Position


Internship Description:  The volunteer program coordinator helps to plan, implement and evaluate activities provided within a specific program area, such as Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, Physical Education, Cultural, Leadership & Citizenship and Prevention at the Boys & Girls Club/Lame Deer unit on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation.  The volunteer will work directly with youth ages 5 ñ 12 years of age during summer hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. A daily schedule of activities and events will be planned each week and posted.  Evening Teen hours may be assigned to 1-2 volunteers each night from 8:00 pm to 12:00 midnight (not to exceed 8 hours/day/volunteer).Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Application ProcessA Boys & Girls Club volunteer application is filled out with a information/background check release form. The Club sends an Orientation and Job Description via email. A telephone interview is conducted. A contract of understanding is mailed by club, signed by both parties.

Housing Provided? Yes, the Club provides living quarters in 2 houses that have 15 beds, 5 bedrooms, 3 baths and 2 kitchens.

Hosted Bonners before? Yes, The Boys & Girls Club has hosted 12 AmeriCorp Volunteers, 3 Bonner Scholar Students and over 30 groups of church volunteers.
