Bard Program on Globalization and International Affairs

Organization Description: BGIA brings 25 young leaders, advanced undergraduates and recent college graduates, from around the world to NYC to engage in the study and practice of international relations. The program, designed by James Chace, former managing editor of Foreign Affairs and the World Policy Journal, is built around professional internships with leading organizations in the fields of human rights, public policy, the media, womenís rights, public health, and international education.
These internships are complemented by courses in political risk analysis; humanitarian action; human rights law; civil society development; trends in terrorism and counter-terrorism; environmental policy; and reporting on international affairs. Rest assured, our faculty are first-rate professors from Bard College, Yale, Columbia, and Brown, as well as editors from Newsweek, the former Executive Director of Doctors without Borders, and the president of the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs.

Internship Position
Internship Description:
We offer internships through a variety of organzations based in New York City and related to the field of International Affairs. We are currently partnered with seventy different organizations, ranging from media to public health to human rights.
We offer a two month summer program which is similar to our regular semester program. Students intern 25-40 hours a week and additionally take two seminars related to the study of international affairs.
