Appalshop

Organization Description: Appalshop is a media arts and education center located in the coalfields of central Appalachia.  Appalshop artists and media makers produce a variety of collaborative, community-invested projects including: documentary films and videos, a traveling theater company a traditional music education project, a recording label, a community-based radio station, community media work with grassroots groups, a newly established archive and a youth media training project.

Internship Position

Internship Description: Internships may be available with the range of our divisions (film, radio, media training, music education, archive, arts administration, theater).  In addition to assisting our artists in actual production and education activities, interns participate in the daily operations of an established non-profit organization. Interaction with community partners through Appalshop programs is also central to interns' work in our organization.

Given Appalshop's mission to support Appalachian communities, we are especially interested in working with students from the Appalachian region.

Potential interns should contact Appalshop's Learning Center Director to discuss internship possibilities. Candidates are encouraged to come to Whitesburg to visit Appalshop and meet internship supervisors.
