Organization Description:

A Christian nonprofit home repair ministry for families and individuals living in substandard housing in Central Appalachia.  Our organization uses volunteer labor and also provides opportunities for those individuals and groups to take part in an educational hands on experience providing emergency home repair and learning about life in Central Appalachia.

Summer Job Description:

Required:

- Desire to work in a Christian environment

- Responsible work habits as outlined in ASP's Interpersonal Standards Agreement (provided upon request)

- Valid driver's license and driving record that is acceptable to ASP's insurer

Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Flexibility to work unusual hours

- Highly motivated, self-starter, creative, problem-solver, dedicated

- Ability to work on a team

 

- Summer employment is May 18, 2011- August 3, 2011 though we are flexible with working around finals, student needs.

- Applicants must also attend a regional Staff Applicant Weekend, if invited, to go through a summer staff simulation and interview. 

- Requirements: Ability to supervise the work of volunteer High School Youth Groups and their leaders doing the home repair, assist in loading and unloading materials for work sites, willingness to plug into community and work on a team.    

 

- For summer staff, starting salary is $4,144. 

- Room and board are provided. 

- ASP will provide transportation once the individual has arrived at the assigned center for staff. 

- Summer Staff provide own medical coverage.
