Beginning this year, the Bonner Foundation is asking each Bonner Congress Representative to take initiative and propose a BIG IDEA to build or strengthen their Bonner Program, its campus-wide culture of service, or the impact of their Bonner Program in the community.

The Congress Meetings will be designed to include time for students with similar ideas to collaborate and share their BIG IDEAS, participate in relevant trainings, and build a plan for implementation. Back on campus, Congress Reps will work to carry out their projects while communicating and sharing their work with the network.

What's your BIG IDEA to strengthen your Bonner Program and its impact on campus and the community?  Identify something that falls into the categories below:

Congress 2009-2010 Focus Areas:
Building and Strengthening Your Bonner Program

  • Improving Bonner Orientation (Bonner 101) and Retreats

  • Improving your Bonner Program’s Recruitment and Selection process

  • Improving the Freshman Class Placement Process & Service

  • Planning Great First Year Service Trips

  • Awesome Sophomore Service Exchanges

  • Strengthening Summer Placements & Internships

  • Strengthening Junior Year Placements & Leadership Roles

  • Strengthening Senior Year (Capstone Projects, Rising Senior Enrichment Funds)

  • Awesome Senior Presentations of Service (Life After Bonner)

  • Bringing the Issue-Based Model to Campus

  • Building Training and Enrichment Activities

  • Building or Strengthening a Bonner Leadership Team

  • Integrating Service Abroad

Each Congress Rep should complete a short proposal—either on the wiki or in video format.

Proposals are short—see the guidelines below.

These proposals should be submitted to the Bonner Foundation by October 9, 2009.

A team of Congress Reps will be reviewing them and making plans for the October Meeting.
