Planning is now underway for the 2010 Summer Leadership Institute at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. Join students, faculty, staff and community partners from more than 80 national colleges and universities who are committed to and engaged in service and civic engagement to strengthen our communities, nation, and world.

We’ll focus on a myriad of issues around which we work—such as the arts, community economic development, education, health, homelessness, hunger, and youth development—in order to better understandwhat works in tackling these issues and how to achieve the most impact. Through issue-based tracks, we’ll have the opportunity to learn about program models, best practices, and how to connect our service to long-term systemic solutions through public policy research, advocacy, and action.

Hosted by Stetson University in partnership with the Bonner Foundation, this Summer Leadership Institute will give all participants a chance to more deeply examine the work we do and how to organize around issues we care about to achieve impact.

Bonner Campuses—here's some things to expect and start planning:

  • Identify one (or more) issues for which you'll reach out to community partners and other experts (faculty, students) from your campus to attend, along with Directors, Coordinators, Congress Representatives, and Senior Interns
  • Complete the Campus Issue Profile (here on the wiki) for at least one issue.  This is a follow-up to what we did at the 2009 November Directors and Coordinators Meeting.  You should have a page created under the working group that your staff member(s) attended.  Click on the right sidebar or below for those issue pages.
  • Make a plan for getting at least one Issue Brief done by SLI.  There are some recommended options for Campus Implementation here.
  • We have some new resources for those individuals (staff, students, faculty) who will be carrying out the Issue Brief research.  You can find those here.

Hello Fellow Bonners!
The Augsburg College Bonners from Minnesota are in search of transportation to and from the Daytona Beach Airport for the SLI trip. We are 3 students who are traveling without a director and who are unable, due to age requiremnts, to rent a car while in Florida. We are willing to split the cost of a rental car with another school, if that's possible. If your instituition is willing to help us out or you have any other suggestions please email me directly at
worrall@augsburg.edu

Thanks!
